First Training School – COST Action CAPSTONE CA24108

We are pleased to announce the launch of the COST Action CAPSTONE Training School 1, focused on “Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP) and Systematic Reviews: Tools and Applications for COST Action Capstone”
The training school will take place from June 9 – 12, 2026 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toulouse, France.
Training School Overview
The Course is intended for junior researchers, but also senior researchers with little or no expertise in these fields.
This three and half day’s training, led by an international team of specialists, will offer a blend of theoretical insights and practical hands-on experience. The training school will cover the following key topics:
- AOP Framework – online asynchronous training materials and selected readings; to be completed before the training school (1 hr)
- Introduction to AOP Principles and Development (2/3 day)
- AOP Review, Endorsement and Publication – OECDs review process and partner journals (1/3 day)
- Searching and Navigating AOP-Wiki & AOP-helpFinder – demonstration and hands-on exercises (1/2 day)
- Use of New Approach Methodologies and AOPs for Chemical Hazard Evaluation – hands-on exercises (1/2 day)
- Weight of Evidence Analysis – AOP examples & case study (1/2 day)
- Build a New AOP of Choice Relevant to Oxidative Stress – hands on group exercise (1/4 day)
- Systematic Review Tools (1/2 day)
Part of the lectures will be recorded (but not the trainees).

Organizational details
- We plan to provide financial support up to 15 participants interested in attending the Training School.
They will be selected and financially supported (long distance travel and daily allowance) by COST Action CAPSTONE according to the Annotated Rules (https://www.cost.eu/uploads/2025/11/COST-TRR-Rules-2025-2026.pdf and https://www.cost.eu/uploads/2026/03/2026-COST-Daily-Allowance-table.pdf) - Please note that the participants are responsible to organize their accommodation (some accommodation will be advised), transportation, visa, etc. on their own.
- Additional places for trainees, without financial support from the COST ACTION for travel and daily allowance could be proposed.
- In all cases, there is no registration fees to attend the courses of the training school.
